What is a conflict?
We talk about a conflict when one person’s interests, wishes, or objectives do not agree with those of another person or other people. Conflicts are part of our day-to-day life – and not just our professional life. They befall us wherever people meet each other and interact with each other.
The silver lining of conflictConflicts are in no way only negative – they also provide opportunities:
- Opportunities for change.
- Opportunities for growth.
- Opportunities for personal development.
Conflicts are there to be resolved!
Unresolved conflicts are a drain on time, money and nerves. What happens when people are unable to resolve a conflict? Such a conflict can swell to unexpected proportions, not only compromising the mood within a team but also implying financial losses for the company and even injury to the health of those involved.
